This week 1/26 @HOPE for Portage

Ways to Pray & Praise this Week for our Community:
1. Prayers for our Community: Pastors Please lift up all the pastors in our community. Recently, we learned of 3 pastors who are facing major health issues/surgeries at this time. Pray for the Lord's protection for your pastor. As you pass churches in our community, lift up their pastors! Pray Psalm 91 for the pastors of our community! This is a critical time to be praying for all those in authority.
2. Church/Ministry of the Week: First Assembly of God
We thank God for Portage First Assembly of God! Please pray for God's blessing & leading for this church. We thank God for their senior pastor, Mike Bean, as well as their staff & this congregation of believers. May this church continue as a shining light for Christ in our community. Currently they are expanding their facility. Please pray for the safety of all the workers. Pray for the ways God will use this facility and body of believers for His glory and the expansion of the kingdom of God in Northwest Indiana!
3. School of the Week: Crisman Elementary School
Please pray for Crisman Elementary School. Principal is Mrs. Kuss. Thank God for the teachers & staff who serve our community daily. Pray for guidance and wisdom for each teacher and staff member. Pray for the students to desire to learn and grow, fulfilling their God-given destiny. Pray that all teachers, students and staff, would come to know and follow Christ as their Savior and Lord.
4. Pray for our new president and our nation. May we honor God as a nation in our actions and laws. Pray for wisdom and Godly counselors for our new president. Pray for revival in our nation!
5. Pray for those serving in short-term missions:
February 10-21: Please pray for Kids Alive Staff members Al, Phyllis & Val as they travel with a team to Kenya. They will be leading a vision team to show & support the outreaches there to children/orphans.
6. Pray for the John Weller family: John & his wife, Joy, were one of the first missionaries we supported through HOPE. John & Joy have joined us in prayer for our community on many occasions! John went home to be with the Lord last week. Please pray for Joy, his 4 children and 8 grandchildren as they grieve their loss and celebrate his homegoing. John served the Lord through overseas missions for 40 years.
7. Community Ministry Needs:
Neighbor Link: Pray for more project coaches to be raised up.
Campus LIfe: Pray for these upcoming youth retreats: High school: Winter Weekend, Feb. 13-15; Middle School: Winter Blitz, Feb 28-Mar1. May many students come to know Christ and be emboldened to serve Him daily!
8. Praise God for the Viola: Last summer during Kids Spectacular, we raised enough money for a Romanian orphanage to purchase a viola. The young girls were all taking lessons on 1 viola. Thank you to all who prayed & gave last summer. A picture of it is attached. God loves the orphan! Thank Him for meeting their needs!
9. Watchword for the week from Scripture: Trust in him at all times, pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Psalm 62:8

1
We thank God for a young girl coming to know Christ at CEF's Good News Club at Myers School. Thanks to all who prayed for the establishment of this club. HOW EXCITING that the first salvation reported for 2009 is a young child who had no other Christian witness in her life. Praise God for raising up opportunities for our children to hear the Good News of Jesus in our public schools! Keep praying for more to begin and grow in their relationship with Christ!Keep sending us your reports of salvation. God is moving! 1 is the number of known salvations reported so far for 2009 in our community. We praise God for each one who has begun their walk of faith in Christ! Pray that they would be rooted and grounded in the faith.
Let's plunder hell and populate heaven!
