HOPE for Portage, A House of Prayerful Expectation
Ways to Pray & Praise this Week for our Community:
1. Pray for Portage Adult Education. Please be in prayer for this important resource to the people of Portage and beyond! What an opportunity they have to meet practical needs of people throughout Northwest Indiana through education. Please be praying for their new director, Frank Vernalis. Pray for quick adjustments for all the teachers, staff and administrators. Pray for wisdom for all! Pray that the funding issues would be resolved and they would be able to continue to provide education to many. They do have an opening for a teacher's aide for their toddler room. Pray that God would bring the right person to fill it. Thank God for those that are called to serve at Portage Adult Ed. May God grant them strength for each day! Thank God for those that desire to complete or continue their education. May God grant them steadfastness in their studies.
2. Church/Ministry of the Week: First Baptist Church of South Haven
Please pray for God's blessing & leading for First Baptist Church. Thank God for their pastor, Ron Cox. Pray that they would be an effective witness for Christ in this community. Praise God for placing them in our community. May they be a light for Christ in this community!
3. Pray for those serving in short-term missions from our community.

Sarah Kidd: summer missions to Thailand
Josiah Addison, Mariam Vale, Marah Vale, Leah Dujmovich, and Mary O'Hara: Summer missionaries with Child Evangelism Fellowship. They are available to teach Backyard Bible Clubs. To schedule a club, call 465-0201.
Marie McKee: August 4-15, Serving in Syria
Dan Flowers: August, Serving in Mexico
Pastor Randy Forsythe, August 17-27, Evangelistic crusades in Ukraine.
4. Praise God for His work in children's lives at HOPE's Kids Summer Spectacular: We completed our 2008 Kids Summer Spectacular. We praise God for how He moved in the children's lives. On our final week, 2 children prayed to receive Christ. They have been plugged in with a local congregation and we are believing God to do amazing work in all of the childrens' lives. We thank God for every teen and adult who assisted this year. And we praise God for bringing in the money needed to provide a viola for an orphanage in Romania. 5. Pray for Area VBS: Please continue to pray for all the vacation Bible schools in our area. The Lord is using these times to bring children to Christ! Still to come in August is Portage 1st United Methodist, Victory Christian Center, South Haven Christian, and Family Bible Church VBS programs. If you know of others, please let us know so we can include them in our prayers. Please pray for each as they prepare. May they be effective witnesses for Christ. Our kids are precious to God. May they come to know Him as their Savior and Lord.
6. Praise & Pray for Upcoming Community Outreaches:
Tie Us Together: This conference was amazing on Saturday. Thank God for all He did in women's lives. Thank God for Natalie Eddy, Jackie Bustos, and their team of wonderful women who planned, prayed and prepared for the event.
ShareFest: Pray for the identification of the partnering churches & community projects. ShareFest will be on October 11, but the planning starts now. Believe with us for God to raise up the leadership team for all 4 communities: Valpo, Portage, Chesterton & Kouts. Pray for increased unity throughout the churches of Northwest Indiana. We praise God for each one who has begun their walk of faith in Christ!
