This Week 7/27 @HOPE for Portage

Here is what's happening this week....
HOPE for Portage, A House of Prayerful Expectation

Ways to Pray & Praise this Week for our Community:

1. Prayer for our Community: Unemployed People Pray that God would meet the needs of those that are unemployed or underemployed in our community. Pray that they would find meaningful work and praise God for it! Pray that God would open the way for righteous trade so that the entire city would prosper in God's provision. Pray for ministries like First Contact, Salvation Army, Portage Food Pantry, St Vincent de Paul, Gabriel's Horn, and the Portage Resale Shop that are ministering to these individuals, offering hope, help, dignity, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Thank God for these ministers and pray about how you can be involved!

2. Church/Ministry of the Week: Church of Jesus Christ
This week, we are praying for the Church of Jesus Christ. We thank God for placing them in our community. Pray for their pastor, Jarrett Spence. May they continue as faithful witnesses for Jesus Christ, brightly shining His light into our community and beyond.

3. Pray for Ministry Needs from our Community:
Churches searching for new Pastors:
Real Life Community Church: lead/senior pastor
Portage Church of Christ: senior pastor
Bridge Community Church: youth & family pastor

Pastors battling health issues:
Pastor Dannie Tackett, Church of God of Prophecy
Pastor Pat Persuhn, Redeemed Christian Center

Other Ministry Requests:
First Contact: With the economic downturn, their opportunities to minister are greatly increased. Pray for the resources they need to help those in need. Pray for the many families in our area facing possible homelessness.

4. Watchword for the week from Scripture: The Lord is faithful in all his words, and gracious in all his deeds. Psalm 145:13

God is moving!129 is the number of known salvations reported so far for 2009 in our community. We praise God for each one who has begun their walk of faith in Christ! Ministry Opportunity
Youth & Family Ministry Pastor @ The Bridge
The Bridge is seeking a Pastor for youth and family ministry, who is comfortable
with a coffeehouse style worship that is growing every quarter. The Bridge is a young church that is very intentional in creating a highly relational, authentic culture that is effective both inside and outside the walls of the church building. We desire that our youth ministry be a vital active part of the church at large, not just a cool hangout for entertainment.

We are very intentional in regards to reaching our city and beyond and seek a person
capable of working within a team structure. Initially, the right candidate will need
to be bi-vocational (9-12 months), and then move to fulltime ministry.
Compensation and benefits: • Salary based on entry level scale
